Reviews:
"It’s hugely refreshing, and remarkably uncommon, to watch a genre film that revolves around intelligent characters reacting intelligently to fantastical events." - 02/21/2018 The Guardian

"[A] ferocious, feral, female-centric update of fearsome monster classics like THE THING and ALIEN." - 02/21/2018 Hollywood Reporter

"[A] lavish, magnificently unnerving visual feast threaded through with well-earned jump scares and real metaphysical force. It’s the kind of film that leaves you dazzled, shellshocked -- and not entirely sure whether your own moviegoing DNA hasn’t been altered a little in the process." -- Grade: A- - 02/21/2018 Entertainment Weekly

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "Cinematographer Rob Hardy creates indelible images of beauty and terror set to a pulsating electronic score by Ben Salisbury and Portishead's Geoff Barrow." - 02/21/2018 Rolling Stone

"Mr. Garland has a talent for unnerving you with quietly dissonant notes and an occasional grotesque flourish." - 02/22/2018 New York Times

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "[T]he striking sci-fi thriller is a beautiful and brutal headtrip exploring the positives and negatives inherent in mankind's evolution, with characters struggling against losing themselves to something alien." - 02/21/2018 USA Today

"Garland possesses a gift for baiting the imagination; his narratives ooze with possibility, pulling you in with their clammy tendrils of intrigue." -- Grade: B - 02/22/2018 A.V. Club

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "[V]isionary, unsettling....The sound design, especially in the climax, is spectacular, keeping us disoriented and frightened with atonal noises that almost sound like they’re turning in on themselves." - 02/23/2018 RogerEbert.com

"ANNIHILATION, a mind-bending foray into the unknown from the British writer-director Alex Garland, leaves you in an entrancingly beautiful daze." - 02/21/2018 Los Angeles Times

"Garland’s film is decidedly creepy and often ravishing to look at..." - 02/23/2018 The Atlantic

5 stars out of 5 -- "ANNIHILATION is a worthy follow-up, proving his debut was no happy accident. It’s one hell of a one-two punch, and confirms him as one of the most accomplished and interesting directors working today." - 03/12/2018 Empire
