The alphabet has never been more fun In this highly interactive novelty book, David A. Carter s Happy Little Yellow Box peeks in and out of the alphabet, hides under flaps, goes up and down, and more From a crawling caterpillar, to a meteor flying over the moon, to a wintertime wink, this book teaches the alphabet using a delightful smiling character and engaging elements such as pull-tabs, pop-ups and other moving parts.
As Publishers Weekly said in a starred review of The Happy Little Yellow Box, readers smiles will match that of the box in this winning blend of minimalism, movement, and personality. "

The star of Carter’s The Happy Little Yellow Box pop-up, which covered opposites, returns in a pop-up alphabet book. The smiling box appears in 3-D pop-ups, hiding behind flaps, and moving down a “slippery slide” thanks to a pull-tab. Chalklike line drawings accompany brief alliterative phrases. “G is for gracefully growing grass,” writes Carter as readers pull a tab that makes the grass appear to grow (and reveals the box’s hiding spot). After children make a meteor shoot across the sky and assist the Happy Little Yellow Box in giving them a “wintertime wink,” Carter’s character won’t be the only one smiling. Ages 3–up. (July)
