Overview

Visionary director Edgar Wright (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD) returns with possibly his most audacious film to date: BABY DRIVER, a mix of car-chase action flick and jukebox musical. The movie's protagonist is a fresh-faced getaway driver who goes by the name of Baby (Ansel Elgort); he works for a crew of bank robbers in Atlanta, and listens to music all the time (including during robberies) to drown out the severe tinnitus he developed from a childhood accident. Baby's solitary life changes after he falls in love with a waitress named Debora (Lily James), but when he tries to escape from the criminal underworld and start over, he finds that getting out is easier said than done. Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Eiza González, and Jon Bernthal co-star. Features music from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the Beach Boys, Dave Brubeck, T. Rex, Beck, Blur, Barry White, Queen, Sky Ferreira, Simon & Garfunkel, Danger Mouse, Run the Jewels, and many more.

Reviews:
"Featuring some of the most astonishingly orchestrated action of Wright’s career, BABY DRIVER simply pushes humor, usually the driving force of his work, into the backseat..." -- Grade: A- - 06/27/2017 A.V. Club

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "BABY DRIVER feels both influenced by the modern era of self-aware, pop-culture filmmaking and charmingly old-fashioned at the same time, which is only one of its minor miracles. It’s as much fun as you’re going to have in a movie theater this year." - 06/26/2017 RogerEbert.com

"BABY DRIVER, a new vehicular-action-thriller-jukebox-musical-romance from the British writer-director Edgar Wright, is almost as entertaining as it is hyphen-depleting. This is movie craftsmanship and showmanship of a very high order." - 06/22/2017 Los Angeles Times

"[I]t’s a pop pastiche par excellence, crammed with cubistic action; glowering and golly-gee types; and an encyclopedia of cinematic allusions, all basted in wall-to-wall tuneage." - 06/27/2017 New York Times

"Like all Edgar Wright movies, BABY DRIVER is a blast, featuring wall-to-wall music and a surfeit of inspired ideas." - 03/12/2017 Variety

"BABY DRIVER is a candy-colored action movie opera, where the music doesn’t just accompany the action -- it fuels it." -- Grade: A- - 06/26/2017 Entertainment Weekly

3.5 stars out of 4 -- "BABY DRIVER has it all: thrills, laughs, sex, nonstop action, a killer soundtrack, a star-making performance from Ansel Elgort and a director – Edgar Wright – who can knock the wind out of you." - 06/27/2017 Rolling Stone

"[O]ne of the most entertaining thrill rides of this year, this decade....It’s wall-to-wall pure pop heaven, crackling with originality and dark humor, teeming with action sequences so perfectly timed and executed you almost want to run out of the theater on the spot so you can call a friend and rave about it..." - 06/27/2017 Chicago Sun-Times

5 stars out of 5 -- "[A] high-octane, tightly choreographed eye-orgy of violence, action, drama and, yes, love. A heady, intoxicating combination that Wright manages to get just right." - 06/19/2017 Empire

"The movie is wrapped up in many of the visual hallmarks of the genre, but it also, unusually, hinges on its protagonist’s moral growth -- his evolution from willing stooge to reluctant hero." - 07/04/2017 The Atlantic
