Overview

Synopsis:
An epic mini-series set during the Civil War. Among the story's many characters are: John Geyser, a Southern farmer who heads North to work as a sketch artist; Jonas Steele, a Pinkerton agent who becomes one of President Abraham Lincoln's bodyguards; and Lincoln himself. "The Blue and the Gray" includes such famous historic events as the trial of abolitionist John Brown, the delivery of the Gettysburg Address, and the Battle of Bull Run.

Co-produced by Larry White & Lou Reda Prods. Shot on location in northwest Arkansas and Oklahoma. Originally aired on the CBS Television Network November 14, 16 & 17, 1982. Teleplay writer Ian McLellan Hunter based his script on material provided by Bruce Catton and on a story and research by John Leekley.
