When the Berenstain Bear cubs arrive at their grandparents’ house for Christmas, they are dismayed when Gramps unplugs the TV. “There are lots of other things to do at Christmastime,” he explains. So they chop down their Christmas tree, make Christmas ornaments, and visit farm animals in a stable that looks like the one in Bethlehem. Readers may be intrigued to try the homespun projects, included with simple directions, though they will also be relieved to see that an “Old-Fashioned Christmas” doesn’t exclude presents under the tree. Ages 4–8. (Oct.)
