Overview
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Boer Wars were two wars fought between the United Kingdom and the two independent Boer republics, the Orange Free State and the South African Republic (Transvaal Republic). The book studies the First Boer War and the Second Anglo-Boer war. The First Anglo-Boer War (1880-1881), also known as the Transvaal War, was a relatively brief conflict in which Boers successfully rebelled against British rule in the Transvaal, and re-established their independence lost in 1877. The Second War (1899-1902), by contrast, was a lengthy war-involving large numbers of troops from many British possessions-which ended with the conversion of the Boer republics into British colonies. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
