In her debut book, Vegan Beauty Review blogger Subramanian provides recipes, some new and some from her blog, for anyone interested in beauty products that are not made with animal by-products or tested on animals. Prefaced by a couple of pages on how to use the guide, the book is divided into the ins and outs of vegan beauty and a selection of recipes. The first two chapters argue why people should choose veganism and DIY beauty and are likely preaching to the converted for many of the books readers. The third chapter, which provides a breakdown of common ingredients and supplies readers should have on hand before making their own products, is comprehensive and helpful, and it ties in nicely with the resources and appendices at the end of the book. The recipes themselves include face- and hair-care products, bath and body products, and makeup and unisex beauty essentials, and are complemented by beautiful photos. With ingredients that are readily available and instructions that are easy to follow, the book will be useful for any DIY fan, vegan or omnivore. (Sept.)
