Overview

Dear Pastor, God has instructed you to make the nation into his disciples. The secular humanists have told you to sit down and shut up If you simply go on doing what you are now, sitting down and shutting up, the nation will continue on the course Judge Bork describes as "Slouching Toward Gomorrah." This little book, Dear Pastor, examines this situation both Biblically and historically. Our nation went from axes and log cabins, in 1607 to the richest and most powerful nation on the planet in 1900. It was a nation which Alexis de Tocqueville, in the early 1800's, described thusly: (There is) ..".no county in the world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America." In the late 1800's, after three hundred years of strong leadership and influence from our pastors, Church attendance was 80 percent and growing, divorce was under ten percent, and America led the world in missions. Then, American pastors adopted a new theology and abandoned their leadership and influence in the public square. They gave up on teaching us what God's word requires of us in loving our neighbors as ourselves and governing ourselves in a Biblically just way. Secular humanists welcomed the exit and promptly began taking over in this area. Slowly at first but now with increasing speed they are changing America from a free republic with God given unalienable rights to a "secular welfare state." Dear Pastor, the book, lays out in four steps how to rescue our nation. It shows how we can restore civility and a Biblical world view in our nation's children; how to break the welfare dependency and restore free commerce and finally how we can elect 'He who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God. The book provides the hope that all of this can be achieved and the encouragement that God's grace is sufficient to the task.
