Readers are asked to remove and replace cardboard shapes from the pages of this well-designed introduction to opposites. Lifting a diamond-shaped piece from the top of a box (open) reveals a mouse inside; children then use the same green diamond to close a reptilian creatures mouth. Removing a large circle uncovers an inset mirror (Now you see me...), and placing it over a white circle creates an instant eclipse (Now you dont!). Rendered in a bright, crayon-box palette, Félixs graphics demonstrate each word or phrase with clarity, and the shapes transformations evoke real delight. Ages 37. (Sept.)
