Overview
"As long as there has been God, there have been God chasers:"

--Tommy Tenney

"God chasers," according to author Tommy Tenney, are Christian activists who exhibit a relentless, passionate pursuit of Jesus, even though their actions may sometimes make them appear foolish in the eyes of others.

Says Tenney: "God chasers transcend time and culture. They come from every background imaginable. They come from every era of time that has existed . . . Are you one? God is just waiting to be caught by someone whose hunger exceeds his grasp."

Tenney draws a distinction between knowing the dates and places of the Bible and knowing the spirit of the teachings of Jesus. It is the latter that drew him into a new ministry based on the fellowship of "God chasers."

Tenney urges his follows to put everything else aside-the structured church services, the rote memorization of biblical events, the acceptance of scripture as something that happened in the past-to return to the spirit of a religion that thrives on the present and the future. Says Tenney: "Sometimes I think we almost fall into idolatry when we tend to worship the Word of God more than the God of the Word."

Tenney is not for the complacent, and that is the strength of his ministry.
