Reviews:
4 stars out of 5 -- "Smith, as you would expect, has a ball. It’s a liberating role, unencumbered by social niceties and deafeningly oblivious to kindness." - 10/30/2015 Empire

"[A] delicately written, boisterously performed movie about the difficult people who dare us to care about them." - 12/03/2015 Los Angeles Times

3 stars out of 4 -- "[F]or anyone who adores Smith -- which is pretty much everyone these days -- they will have quite a satisfying ride with this crusty grand dame behind the wheel." - 12/08/2015 RogerEbert.com

"Smith has picked herself another juicy acting plum....Smith's acid tongue makes any line sound better." - 01/06/2016 Rolling Stone

"Smith plays her with equal parts antsy mania and arch, withering skepticism toward all surrounding her -- the latter characteristic very much the actress’s stock-in-trade." - 09/12/2015 Variety

"Smith is literally THE LADY IN THE VAN, Nicholas Hytner’s self-consciously artsy and somewhat slight but tartly funny and occasionally wise adaptation of Alan Bennett’s play of the same name." - 01/21/2016 Chicago Sun-Times

"Smith is once again very, very good in a very different way than you’d expect." - 01/28/2016 Boston Globe
