Overview

The debut novel from acclaimed crime writer Bryon Quertermous is a violent, hilarious mashup of Elmore Leonard, Michael Chabon and Richard Stark. The only thing standing between Dominic Prince and his dream of a writing fellowship in New York City is his thesis advisor, Parker Farmington, who doesn't want Dominick's crime novel tainting his last chance bid at tenure. With seemingly no other options (he can think of), Dominic tricks a bounty hunter named Titus Wade into helping his kidnap the professor in order to prevent his career from being derailed by this academic elitist. Yet they quickly find themselves in the middle of a violent and obsessive adventure with a horny but moral cop and a mentally unhinged baseball fan who thinks his training to be a serial killer mirrors Dominick's training to be a writer.
As Dominic's plan quickly falls to shreds, the story winds through the worst neighborhoods of Detroit and Windsor and the carcass of what was once a thriving industrial town. Both a unique take on comic noir and a look at the desolation that has crept into America's once-thriving towns, MURDER BOY is unique take on comic noir from a new, exciting voice in crime fiction.
