Overview
Editor's Choice:

Without a doubt this is the best Peanuts book ever assembled. Hundreds of photographed strips from original drawings or newspapers are complemented by Schulz’s quotations. This volume draws most of its material from the rarely seen early years but spans Schulz’s industrious career. Included are photographs of Peanuts memorabilia and original drawings from Schulz's scrapbook. This book will be returned to over and over again for the humor the Peanuts strip brought to a generation.

This beautiful album will dazzle all fans of Charles Schulz and his art. Reproduced here are more than five hundred comic strips, a sketchbook that Schulz kept after being drafted in 1943, his very first cartoon feature (Just keep laughing...,  From Timless Topix), early prototype drawings for Peanuts, a sketchbook form 1964, and many more never-before-seen materials gathered form the Schulz Archives in Santa Rosa, California. Strips form the 1950s though 2000 reveal how Schulz's style and his beloved Peanuts gang evolved. The art has been photographed by Geoff Spear in full color, capturing the subtle textures of paper, ink, and line. The book features an introduction by Jean Schulz and has been edited and designed by Chip Kidd--editor of Chris Ware's Jimmy Corrigan--who provides and informed appreciative commentary.

A celebration of America's best loved comic strip that lets us see it as never before, this book is a must for anyone who has ever come under the spell of Peanuts.
