More About The Roman Colosseum by Lynne Wirtz

Overview
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Roman Colosseum was the center of entertainment for Imperial Rome. Housing live reenactments of classical mythology as well as spectacular battles in the empire's history. The Colosseum was also home to gladiator fights where exotic animals were imported from all over the empire to face seasoned gladiators, condemned prisoners and slaves for the entertainment of the Roman people. After the Great Fire of Rome in 64A.D. the Colosseum, originally known as Flavian's Amphitheater, was built from lands taken from Emperor Nero and funding from the first Jewish-Roman war. Today the Colosseum is still one of Rome's most recognizable places and beckons travelers from all over the world to see the thousand years of history that live there. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
