A young sailor journeys from his native Norway hoping to earn enough money to save his family's farm. But once on the high-seas, his ship is hijacked by a mysterious man posing as a British Naval officer, then sunk in a hurricane. He ends up on a jungle island and must summon all his courage and instinct for survival to save his life and outwit a vicious gang of pirates.
Haakon Haakonsen is a 13-year-old Norwegian lad out to earn needed money by serving as a cabin boy on a ship. Also onboard is Lt. Merrick, a pirate posing as a naval officer in order to smuggle weapons. But when a raging storm destroys the ship, Haakon and some friends find themselves on a deserted island, where Haakon discovers a buried treasure. Unfortunately, the booty belongs to the villainous Merrick and his gang, who will be arriving soon to collect. The playful Haakon, assisted by an amiable gorilla, booby traps the island to thwart Merrick... but will it work?
