Overview
Sarah Peyton has spent her whole life trying to be a good person who serves others. At the age of forty-eight, she can look back and say her life has been full and emotionally rewarding. Now she finds her life in transition, and her heart in turmoil. Her three grown children have lives of their own, and her relationship with Lenny, the only man she's ever loved, has grown cold and distant. To make matters worse, her beloved dad has died, and she's left with the responsibility of a grieving mother. Even though she's in the process of fulfilling a life long dream of a college education, Sarah finds herself emotionally alone, and at times despondent. She begins to have flashbacks of the year she was eight and her favorite aunt committed suicide. Sarah struggles emotionally and spiritually with how the events of her life now parallel that of her aunt's. Her fears and disillusionment become the catalysts that push her in a direction she believes will save her. She soon finds that her new path also has the potential to change her life forever when she meets Jacob, her college professor. He becomes a trusted friend, and their mutual respect soon turns into an unexpected love. Now Sarah must make a choice. She can stay with Lenny where her life feels empty, or she can go with Jacob, and hopefully find the joy she longs for. Either choice will cost her something.
