Overview

In the land of Allothi--

Zorn and Grayall have lifted the curse on the village of Rylan but they aren't heading home to Wendenwood. Zorn has agreed to further assist the insurgency, so they are traveling deeper into the Realm. They will journey to the stronghold held by Zorn as Warder of Farnorth and to the citadel, or basilen, controlled by Zarath as Archon of Northmarch.

Former servitors now occupy the basilen. Many seethe with resentment at Zorn's presence among them. They see in her a perfect model of the class that oppressed them. When another 'aristo' is brought to the basilen settlement, smoldering emotions flare and more than one mind plots murder.

Fortunately, Zorn has defenders to shield her. But just beyond the mountains lie the Enclaves, where the retreating ariston have fled. Among them is Zarath who believes Zorn has died a traitor's death. If Zarath learns Zorn is alive and within reach, that knowledge will bring to Zorn a threat greater than vengeful servitors.
