"Gung Ho! Turn on the People in Any Organization" by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles is a look at spiritual fulfillment from a different perspective. As the title makes clear, the idea here is for the boss to make sure that employees feel engaged on the job.

How do you do that? The authors of "Raving Fans" lay out a simple three-step strategy in this non-fiction work that they tell in terms of a fable:

1. Make sure employees know why their work is important.

2. Give employees control of how to do their jobs.

3. Provide encouragement.

This strategy is hard to do. But if more bosses were doing it, we wouldn't have this current spate of books, would we?
