Overview
The Frogs is a comedy play written by Aristophanes, a Greek playwright, in 405 BC. The play is set in Hades, the underworld, where the god Dionysus is on a mission to bring back the great tragedian Euripides from the dead to save Athens from its current state of decline. Dionysus encounters a chorus of frogs who are mourning the death of their king and are in a state of chaos. The play is filled with witty humor, puns, and parodies of famous Greek myths and tragedies. Throughout the play, Dionysus debates with the god Heracles and meets various famous figures from Greek mythology, including Aeschylus and Euripides. The Frogs is considered one of Aristophanes' greatest works and is a satirical commentary on the state of Athenian society and politics during the Peloponnesian War.DIONYSUS O drop that, can't you?
