Movie Reviews
Reviews:
"Waititi gives Viago an irrepressible puppy-dog enthusiasm that clashes beautifully with Clement’s quasi-sexy brooding as Vladislav, while Brugh functions much like Harry Shearer in THIS IS SPINAL TAP..." -- Grade: B - 02/12/2015 A.V. Club
"Taking the form of a faux documentary in the Christopher Guest tradition, the frequently laugh-out-loud film profiles a dysfunctional group of aging children of the night who happen to be longtime New Zealand flat-mates." - 02/11/2015 Los Angeles Times
3 stars out of 4 -- "[W]hen the vamps hit the town to party with werewolves, zombies and the strangest creatures of all, you won't be able to wipe the smile off your face." - 02/11/2015 Rolling Stone
3.5 stars out of 4 -- "Clement is predictably great as a sulking brute, but Brugh and Waititi are the film's standout performances. Waititi's nervous nice-guy schtick brings Andy Kaufman's Latka character from 'Taxi' to mind..." - 02/13/2015 RogerEbert.com
"[A] goofily amusing mockumentary from the New Zealand comedians and actors Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi." - 02/13/2015 New York Times
"WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, a clever mockumentary from Taika Waititi and Jemaine, proves that some tropes, like the undead and roommate problems, are eternally funny." - 02/11/2015 Entertainment Weekly
"WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS is a bracing reminder of how the right burst of energy and style breathes fresh ideas into a genre threatened with creative exhaustion." - 02/26/2015 Chicago Sun-Times
3.5 stars out of 4 -- "[T]his pitch-perfect genre spoof is worth relishing. Ridiculously funny and creative, the horror/comedy hybrid unfolds as a mockumentary." - 03/13/2015 USA Today
