Synopsis:
In 1934, the U.S. army has decided to eliminate its cavalry forces in order to modernize in preparation for a possible war with either Germany or Japan. In one sleepy Southwestern base, five men with a history of insubordination receive orders to shoot the remaining 400 horses in their unit. Believing that their honor as cavalrymen is at stake, they leave on a wild, 2000 mile escape ride to deliver the horses to freedom. But a mechanized army unit pursues them to finish the mission.

Notes:
Filmed in Australia. Originally broadcast on HBO, March 18, 1995. A disclaimer states that no animals were harmed during the shooting of the film.
