Overview
The Memorial Day weekend of 1921 saw one of the most shameful incidents in the history of U.S. race relations, when white rioters destroyed over 35 blocks of Tulsa, Oklahoma's Greenwood District, a prosperous hub of African-American-owned businesses. Moreover, the attack and it's human toll-as many as 300 dead-was covered up for generations. The circumstances of the Tulsa Race Massacre, and the tragedy's long climb into public consciousness, are strikingly recounted here. Narrated by Michel Martin. 120 min. Widescreen Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo Subtitles: English (SDH).

3 stars out of 4 -- "TULSA: THE FIRE AND THE FORGOTTEN works best as a learning tool, filling in some of the blanks of American history, details that were purposely redacted by the same types of people who wish to continue that redaction." - 05/31/2021 RogerEbert.com
