Prudence's Prize-Winning Pie
by Gwen Flanders

Overview -

Prudence’s Prize-Winning Pie takes the ordinary task of baking a pie to hilarious new heights by adding a surprise element only a child would dream up. Prudence has always dreamed of winning the Blue Ribbon at the local County Fair baking contest. This year, she has decided to enter her grandmother’s famous recipe for Blueberry Pie. By adding a secret, unconventional ingredient of her own, she is sure her pie will be a shoo-in for the prize. But no one, not her parents, the other contestants, or the panel of judges is prepared for the uproarious end results.

Gwen Flanders, from Charlotte, North Carolina, is a member of the SCBWI and fell in love with children's fiction while working as a pre-school teacher. She began by writing a children's picture book and later moved into chapter books to allow herself the space to elaborate more and invite others to get to know the characters she has grown to love. Her writing has been featured in local newspapers and various online journals. Some of her favorite authors growing up were Wilson Rawls, Beverly Cleary, Astrid Lindgren and Roald Dahl.
