Overview
In this third installment of the rebooted STAR TREK FILM SERIES (which began with J.J. Abrams's STAR TREK in 2009), Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) struggles with a personal crisis as he and the crew of the Enterprise are attacked by a dictator named Krall (Idris Elba). When an assault by Krall leads to the destruction of their starship, the team end up marooned on a remote planet inhabited by aliens both hostile and helpful. Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin co-star. Directed by Justin Lin (FAST & FURIOUS 6), STAR TREK BEYOND is dedicated to both Leonard Nimoy (who passed away in 2015) and Yelchin (who died after filming concluded).

Movie Reviews
Reviews:
"If you’re looking for a witty workplace sitcom set on a futuristic starship, the latest exploits featuring the crew of the Enterprise, STAR TREK BEYOND, won’t disappoint." - 07/15/2016 Entertainment Weekly
3 stars out of 5 -- "Lin pulls out all the stops, from new ways to make Federation ships look cool in flight, to a ‘snow-globe’ space station that’s like Escher’s take on Elysium, and there’s a time-lapse shot to stir your soul." - 07/15/2016 Total Film
3 stars out of 5 -- "The real star, as ever, is Zachary Quinto’s imperturbable First Officer Spock, who conveys logical calm, droll humour, and a kind of martyred romanticism. He rules the movie with a single raised eyebrow..." - 07/15/2016 The Guardian
"The script injects a welcome strain of humor that's true to the original Gene Roddenberry creation, delivering nostalgia without stiff veneration." - 07/15/2016 Hollywood Reporter
"[T]here are suggestions of classic STAR TREK style action-plus-characterization-plus-cleverness, and pleasing performances by a cast that has settled into each others' rhythms, as a real-world naval crew would after years of sailing together." - 07/22/2016 RogerEbert.com
"[T]he movie bounces along, hurtling its heroes over colliding wreckage and into currents of artificial gravity, pausing just long enough for a punchline or a knowing exchange of looks." -- Grade: B - 07/21/2016 A.V. Club
"[O]ne of the abiding pleasures of STAR TREK, in its old and newer iterations, lies in its balance of stubborn consistency and canny inventiveness. The characters never change, but the stakes can shift wildly from one adventure to the next." - 07/20/2016 New York Times
"STAR TREK BEYOND plays like an episode of the old STAR TREK TV series....It might even feel like you’re back in your rec room, circa 1967, drinking Tang and waiting for the Tribbles." - 07/21/2016 Boston Globe
"Because Lin has apparently been a STAR TREK fan since his youth, he is in tune with the earnestness that is one of the TV series’ legacies. At its best, this results in a heartfelt tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock." - 07/21/2016 Los Angeles Times
3 stars out 4 -- "[P]lenty fast and furious. But it also openly gives its heart to what came before; any Trekkie that doesn't choke up at this 50th-anniversary edition is no longer in the club." - 07/21/2016 Rolling Stone
"Humour, rather than the Enterprise’s warp thrust, is the driving force here. And with a screenplay that was co-scripted by Simon Pegg, the gags tend towards the engagingly nerdy, self-referential variety that will best connect with the fanbase..." - 07/24/2016 Observer
