Movie Reviews
Reviews:
"Directed by Cate Shortland with propulsive excitement, humor and pleasingly understated emotional interludes, this stand-alone proves a stellar vehicle for Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff..." - 06/29/2021 Hollywood Reporter
"The movie features just enough kinetic combat to give a mainstream audience that getting-your-money’s-worth feeling, but from the opening credits, most of it has a gritty, deliberate, zap-free tone that is strikingly -- and intentionally -- earthbound for a superhero fantasy." - 06/29/2021 Variety
"[The film] feels alive and original on its own terms, thanks largely to tight action choreography by Shortland and a great cast that centers four very engaging performances from Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, and, most of all, Florence Pugh." - 06/29/2021 RogerEbert.com
"[Pugh] understands the assignment; she lets us see the hurt beneath her character’s dagger-sharp sarcasm. Harbour, too, is a hoot as the team’s over-the-hill patriarch, an aging super soldier hung up on his glory days as Russia’s answer to Captain America." - 06/29/2021 A.V. Club
"Despite a two-hour-plus runtime, BLACK WIDOW never drags. Pugh and Harbour are particularly welcome additions to the universe." - 07/01/2021 Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- "[A] pleasure....It takes a character without a future and gives her a past, providing one of the OG Avengers with a soulful, funny requiem." - 06/29/2021 Empire
"The fight choreography is impressively acrobatic..." - 06/29/2021 Entertainment Weekly
