Since 2005, he has initiated and led the national project to rescue civilian family letters, dedicating himself to the collection, organization, and research of family letters. He has served as principal investigator for a key project of the National Social Science Fund of China, titled A Study of the Cultural Value and Rescue Collection of Chinese Civilian Family Letters. He is the author of Brief Writings, Deep Feelings: The Cultural Value of Chinese Family Letters and Strategies for Rescue Collection. He has also edited over twenty books on family letters, including Family Letters from the War of Resistance: Our Ancestors' Memories of the Fight Against Japan, Illustrated Red Family Letters, Family Letters of the Heroes in Harm's Way, The New China in Family Letters, and Integrity Stories in Family Letters: Nothing Is Trivial About Conduct.
