Aesop's Fables
Overview
Aesop's Fables was completed in the sixth century BC. Some of them were written by Aesop, while others were local folk tales that Aesop added to his speech. The current Aesop's Fables can be traced back to a collection of fables by a monk in Istanbul in the 14th century. However, many stories were added later, and historians are not sure how many stories are actually from Aesop. Aesop's fables often use anthropomorphic animals as protagonists to satirize various human natures and behaviors. They cleverly reflect the characteristics of human nature with concise and clear writing, and also impart wisdom and insights into life. It is also the most popular way for children to learn moral lessons today.
