Movie Reviews

Reviews:
"This elevated neo-gothic is executed with a firm hand and a beguiling imagination, its mysteries rooted in war, sexual violence and ancient evil." - 06/01/2020 Hollywood Reporter

"Actress Romola Garai makes a distinctive feature directorial debut with AMULET....She hasn’t just created a stylish potboiler, but a densely textured piece that makes for a truly arresting viewing experience to a point." - 01/28/2020 Variety

"There are secrets galore in a grimy attic and beyond in Romola Garai’s AMULET, a gothic horror-thriller with a lot on its mind about gender and the superficial norms that surround it." - 07/24/2020 RogerEbert.com

3 stars out of 5 -- "You get the sense that you’re being guided along by someone with a vision, as well as facility for marshaling her collaborators around that vision." - 07/24/2020 Rolling Stone

"Juri makes Magda deeply compelling in her emotional inscrutability..." - 07/21/2020 A.V. Club

"AMULET frays your nerves beautifully for its first creepy hour. Working with a crack team both in front of the camera and behind it, Garai teases the story slowly, sprinkling in sharp, resonant details..." - 07/22/2020 New York Times

"AMULET relies less on skittering creatures and franchised jump-scares then a sort of auteur's mood board: long atmospheric shots of mist-shrouded trees and dusty teacups; odd angles, scant dialogue." - 07/23/2020 Entertainment Weekly
