Movie Reviews

Reviews:
"In terms of narrative and choreography, its leaps and transitions are often mind-bending, breaking down assumptions and putting things back together in ways that are illuminating and expansive." - 05/22/2020 Hollywood Reporter

3 stars out of 4 -- "A shape-shifting, fluid film that is more a feat of dance and choreography than of cinematic storytelling, AVIVA is a start-to-finish strange, surprising and often arresting artifact." - 06/12/2020 RogerEbert.com

3 stars out of 5 -- "Smith is an extraordinary dancer -- her pantomime of a traveler on an airplane would be a showstopper anywhere -- but she’s an even better choreographer." - 06/12/2020 Rolling Stone

"[T]he film has established what’s fresh about it: its questioning of gender, its use of dance not as an entertaining interlude but as a primary mode of expression." - 06/11/2020 New York Times
