The Bury Transition
Overview
HE WANTED A BREW. HE GOT A KINGDOM IN CRISIS.
Baz Tardes is a simple man with simple needs: a rare collectible figurine, a ring of black pudding for his mum, and for the Bury Metrolink to run on time for once in its life.
But when a botched "Star-Child" summoning spell drags him from the rain-slicked streets of Greater Manchester into the magical realm of Aethelgard, Baz finds himself in a world of high-fantasy tropes and low-tier management. The Kingdom is broke, the heroes are incompetent, and the "Forbidden Spreadsheet" that runs reality is riddled with errors.
A Demon Lord with Burnout. A Paladin who takes everything literally. And a Ghostly Goose mascot.
Armed with nothing but a clipboard, a "can-do" Northern attitude, and a deep-seated hatred for inefficiency, Baz isn't going to slay the dragon-he's going to audit it. He's turning dungeons into distribution centers, restructuring the Abyss, and teaching a literal Queen of Darkness the importance of a proper 15-minute tea break.
But as the King's "Order" threatens to "optimize" the joy out of existence, Baz must lead a full-scale workers' revolt. Because in Aethelgard, the stakes are high, the magic is volatile, and if Baz doesn't get a decent chip barm soon, someone is getting a formal grievance.
Perfect for fans of Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Robert Bevan's Critical Failures, and anyone who has ever wanted to give their boss a performance review with a magical greataxe.
