Movie Reviews
Reviews:
"This wide-eyed loner may be 'just' an anime character, but she’s as relatable as any live-action teenager you might meet on screen this year, thanks to the splendid attention to detail and seemingly boundless imagination that characterizes CHILDREN OF THE SEA." - 10/27/2019 Variety
"All due praise to art director Shinji Kimura and CGI director Kenichiro Akimoto for using trompe l’oeil stylization to sometimes give Ruka the illusion of psychological depth....CHILDREN OF THE SEA is gorgeous throughout." - 09/01/2020 RogerEbert.com
"CHILDREN OF THE SEA translates Igarashi’s wondrous illustrations through a combination of traditional hand drawing and C.G.I. technology. The result, accompanied by Joe Hisaishi’s whimsical string-heavy score, is mostly dazzling..." - 09/02/2020 New York Times
