The Cloister Man
Overview
In the shadowed streets of Durham, fear moves quietly.
Young men and women are being found dead under strange circumstances, no signs of struggle, no apparent motive, only a black ribbon left carefully beside each body. As whispers spread through the ancient city, Inspector Nathan Frost is drawn into a series of murders unlike anything he has ever known.
The trail leads toward the looming presence of Durham Cathedral and to Thomas Bell, a withdrawn former theology student with an unsettling calm and a dangerous belief: that death is not cruelty, but mercy.
When Bell takes refuge inside forgotten chapels and silent cloisters, the investigation becomes something far more personal. Frost soon realises he is no longer simply hunting a killer, he is being studied by one.
As fog closes over Victorian Durham and the line between salvation and madness begins to blur, Frost must stop a man who does not think himself evil, before he becomes Bell's final act of "peace."
The Cloister Man is a dark Victorian psychological thriller about obsession, silence, faith, and the terrifying danger of absolute conviction.
