She and the other victims soon piece clues together that point to another more intriguing case: someone is posing as an employee of Brown Sugar Bliss Bakery and delivering boxes of toxic cookies to businesses around town. Alissa receives a delivery of hyacinths at her house from an anonymous sender. More floral deliveries soon follow, but the cards are never signed. She wonders if the flowers are somehow tied to the cookies, but she is baffled when Kelsey receives a similar arrangement at her cabin an hour away. Though distracted by his inability to offer much aid, Matthew manages to keep on writing with Kelsey. Things are further complicated for him by a visit to his parents' house, during which he introduces them to Alissa.
