The Desert Daily
Overview
The desertification of America was slow.
People didn't pay it too much mind. Not at first. Those who hadn't seen it, of course. A little pile of sand on the front porch. Okay, sweep it off. But the next morning the little pile is back, only it's not so little. Then a few aisles at the grocery store go empty. A supply issue.
Then the sand is blocking the front door and the TV won't come on. Next comes the wind. Roaring, blinding wind that flips cars through intersections and over highways. Where is the army? Where is help? There is no army. No help.
With the sand comes new and old things. Cats and vultures. Divine song birds. Normal people like Stu Black, Hugh Flemm, Keith Lonnagan and Sarah Brackman. How will they fare against the green-eyed cat that watches all? Will they find salvation? Refuge?
Or be eaten?
