After Gwen succeeds in persuading Brecan to turn himself in, their party is suddenly attacked by bandits. They release Brecan, thinking that's he's one of their own, but he grabs one of their guns and drives them off. Although Brecan is now in Cardigan's custody again, the Sawbwa has learned of Brecan's location, and dispatched soldiers to bring Brecan to him. The soldiers open fire on the location of Cardigan and Brecan, but the security officer refuses to relinquish his prisoner.
