The 12th Exposure
Overview
On the morning of August 12th, 1991, thirteen-year old Danny Reyes stopped to tie his boot on a trail in the San Gorgonio Wilderness and fell behind his scout troop. He was not found that day. He was not found the following week. He was not found at all. The last image on his camera - a cheap yellow 110 model his mother had packed without explanation - showed his face pressed close to the lens, eyes wide, looking at something just outside the frame. Detective Ray Colder has spent thirty-three years not closing the case. Then a trail runner goes missing on the same mountain. Same ravine. When Ray pulls an SD card from the frozen creek bank, the image stops him where he stands. A man's face. The same expression. The same direction of gaze. Two photographs, thirty-three years apart.
