Overview

God creates us to do what He tells us to do. It is God's purpose in marriage to reveal Himself, His Son, His church, and the gospel by the way in which husbands and wives relate to each other. God designed the relationship between husband and wife to illustrate the relationship between Christ and the church. When marriage models Christ's relationship to the church, marriage becomes a depiction of the Gospel. Consequently, marriage is a living drama of how Christ and the church relate to each other as Bridegroom and bride. It is a gospel-story that we tell with our lives. Wives participate in, endorses, and communicates this Gospel story through Biblical submission. Submission is of the utmost importance for the Christian faith, for the gospel is what is at stake. Moreover, Biblical submission offers Christian wives rest as they function in the way they were created to. When a wife-a picture of the church-submits to her husband-a picture of Christ-she becomes an object lesson that depicts both salvation by faith, which is resting in Christ, and the result of salvation, which is rest that comes from being in Christ. Yet, submission has been villainized and abandoned like some archaic custom from long ago. Young women are raised in an environment opposed to Biblical womanhood. Why? Could it be the world has distorted womanhood and submission into something God never intended? But there is hope-hope for recapturing a right understanding and resurgence of biblical womanhood. Through an embrace and understanding of the gospel, gender roles-and our ability to manifest them-can be set right and bring incredible joy.
