Hanh's father arrived in the UK as a boat refugee. He has now moved back to Vietnam to search for his birth mother; the woman who had to give him up following the fall of Saigon in 1975.
It's 2022 and Hanh has moved to Cambridge from Vietnam, to work in a nail bar, prior to starting a master's course in music. Money is tight and she has to deal with the culture shock of British life; especially the dating scene. Hanh dreams of finding true love, but underestimates the duplicity of people around her.
Finally Hanh decides to risk everything, including her father's chance of discovering the his roots, to remain true to herself. How can Hanh ever recover all that is now lost?
