Movie Reviews
Reviews:
3 stars out of 5 -- "There are some great set-piece scenes....The idea of criminal adventurers being parasitically reliant on the safety net provided by older law-abiding relatives is in fact a shrewdly observed motif." - 05/25/2017 The Guardian
"Stripping away almost all traces of movie-star glamour to reveal the naked, nervy talent underneath, Pattinson finally bursts out of the chrysalis of his pin-up boy celebrity. The metamorphosis from YA heartthrob into electrifying character actor is complete." -- Grade: B+ - 08/11/2017 A.V. Club
"At once a swift, relentless chase thriller and an exhilarating mood piece that recalls the great, gritty crime dramas of Sidney Lumet and Abel Ferrara, GOOD TIME is also exactly what it says it is: a thrill, a blast, a fast-acting tonic of a movie." - 08/10/2017 Los Angeles Times
3.5 stars out of 4 -- "There’s a palpable sense of anxiety and panic that comes through in every heated frame after the film’s inciting incident." - 08/11/2017 RogerEbert.com
3.5 stars out of 4 -- "[C]heck out the Pattinson tour de force in GOOD TIME....As directed by the Safdie brothers, Josh and Benny, the movie rips through 100 minutes of screen time like Wile E. Coyote with his tail on fire." - 09/08/2017 Rolling Stone
"[I]t’s exciting proof of its makers’ ability to chafe and challenge audiences in a growing range of registers." - 05/25/2017 Variety
"[T]his is a richly textured genre piece that packs a visceral charge in its restless widescreen visuals and adrenalizing music, which recalls the great mood-shaping movie scores of Tangerine Dream." - 05/25/2017 Hollywood Reporter
"Propulsive, urgent, and frequently disturbing, GOOD TIME is a techno-scored, 21st-century journey into New York’s criminal underbelly that manages to feel authentic and deeply surreal at the same time." - 08/10/2017 The Atlantic
