Overview
The Governor-General's Body Guard - Clearview Large Print Edition by Ernest J. Chambers, originally published 1902.
This is a Jumbo Edition: it runs longer than our 442-page Liftable usability cap, printed in one volume up to our printer's mechanical maximum of 1,200 pages.
For collection development: this is a large-print edition intended for low-vision and aging patrons, and for any reader who finds standard trade print tiring over a long sitting. It suits large-print and accessibility collections, adult and young-adult general collections where the text is a standard, and reading-room copies where a durable case binding matters. This volume runs beyond the 442-page Liftable limit and is correspondingly heavier. The text is unabridged and reproduced from a public-domain source without modernisation.
Algorithmic Quality Assurance: 139 deterministic and probabilistic checks; semantic reviews and holistic evaluation by frontier models; explanations within. AI as quality enforcer.
This Clearview Editions hardcover is designed for sustained large-print reading. Its body text is set in 18-point Atkinson Hyperlegible Next on 27-point leading, with 1.5 line spacing. The 7-by-10-inch page gives that type room to breathe while leaving space at the binding and outer edge for handling. The larger trim allows a usable line length without compressing the letters or narrowing the margins to the edge of the sheet. Text is set ragged right without automatic word division, keeping word spacing regular and words intact at line endings. This follows UKAAF large-print guidance for left-aligned text and avoiding split words. The body font was developed by the Braille Institute to make commonly confused letters and digits more distinguishable. Its letterforms help separate lowercase l from uppercase I, the digit 0 from uppercase O, and mirrored shapes such as b and d. The text is typeset anew as selectable, searchable text rather than reproduced as photographs of small-print pages. Wide interior margins keep the words clear of the binding and leave room to steady the book with a hand at the outer edge. Widow and orphan controls help prevent isolated lines at page transitions. Major headings begin on recto pages, making long works easier to enter, leave and resume at a recognizable division. Intentional blank pages preserve that recto rhythm instead of pushing a major new section onto the back of a sheet.
The hierarchical Contents gives readers a visible map of the work before they reach the main text. When viewed digitally, linked Contents entries and PDF bookmarks provide alternate ways to move among the work's divisions. The interior retains source order, including prefaces, divisions, chapter titles and illustration references where the source supplies them. Original-source illustrations or facsimiles, when present, are reproduced in grayscale from the available source images and credited according to their provenance. For works divided into multiple bound volumes, each volume has its own ISBN, front matter and navigation. The edition includes a short Lagniappe: a verified, work-related piece of information chosen as an added treat for the reader. About This Series explains the collection theme and why the work belongs in it. About This Edition explains the source and editorial choices behind this particular large-print setting. The Algorithmic Quality Assurance note explains the production checks and independent review behind the finished files. The case-laminate hardcover uses white text stock and a matte cover; its spine and barcode are placed to the specified print geometry. Clearview Editions is an imprint of Nimble Books LLC, bringing complete works of public-domain literature to readers who prefer generous type, clear navigation and a durable volume. Clarity first.
