Half-Light

Rolling Stone - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[I]t's the gorgeously inventive tracks that steal the show. Maybe the most telling is 'Don't Let It Get to You,' built around a machine-gunning sample of the samba-drum battery from Paul Simon's curveball 1990 banger 'The Obvious Child'..." Magnet - "It's less an emphatic, assertive statement than a patchwork scrapbook of disparate moods and tunes that, taken as a whole, feels not unpleasantly unfinished, somewhat hazy and dreamlike and understatedly charismatic." NME (Magazine) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "It's honest, personal and wholly relatable. Rostam may have defined Vampire Weekend's sound, but with HALF-LIGHT he begins to define himself." Paste (magazine) - "Being able to articulate love and its non-reciprocation comes from a place of vulnerability, and the lyrics here reveal Rostam at his most introspective." Pitchfork (Website) - "Rostam invokes various levels of sunlight streaming into apartment windows throughout the record, and it often sounds like he's not singing to a person, exactly, but rather the formless, dark silhouette of a person who's just left the room."
