Handbook of Psychiatry : Volume 4, the Neuroses and Personality Disorders
Overview
This 1986 volume is the fourth in the five-volume Handbook of Psychiatry. It is a textbook on neuroses and personality disorders. These disorders are among the commonest forms of psychiatric illnesses, including those found in children and adolescents, and every practising doctor will need to advise and treat patients with symptoms which will elicit one or both of these diagnostic labels. The book was written primarily for practising psychiatrists, physicians and general practitioners, and clinical detail and practical treatment are described. Equal importance is attached to assessment and to treatment of patients with neurotic and behavioural disorders, and much attention is devoted to general aspects of treatment, including the role of the multidisciplinary therapeutic team and the value of an eclectic approach. It will continue to be of historical interest to specialists today.
