I was assigned to the image conversion lab to assist in designing low light level television pickup tubes. Using one of those tubes I accidentally discovered the light-emitting-diode (LED). Midway through my career with RCA I was sent to Barbados, B.W.I. to develop and install a proof of concept site for the Over-the-Horizon-Radar (OTHR) system. After I left Barbados and RCA I joined Telerad Manufacturing where I developed and the command receiver for the Atlas missile. I moved to Baltimore, MD in 1965 and incorporated Martin L. Kaiser, Inc. Initially I serviced industry, large and small. I later manufactured eavesdropping and counter-eavesdropping as well as bomb detection and disposal equiment.
