As Presidential administrations turn over, the U.S. policy on North Korea remains largely unchanged due to North Korea's unpredictable, volatile, and oftentimes erratic behavior as perceived from a global premise over the past 60 years. This condition exists because of the dictatorial regimes of Kim Jong Un and his predecessors. North Korea isolates itself from the rest of the global community through the auspices of communist ideals and provocations that led to damaging ties with its neighbors. North Korea's provocations historically have led to hunger, famine, malnutrition, and violation of human rights. The purpose of this qualitative case study analysis is to determine how the U.S. and the Republic of Korea militaries sustain and support a North Korean regime collapse using data triangulation and purposeful sampling to base North Korea against three other case studies.
