The word pastor could also refer to church leader. A practicing pastor is an individual who actively engages in the role of a pastor within a church community. This person takes on various responsibilities, such as leading worship services, offering spiritual guidance, counselling congregants, teaching scripture, and ensuring the overall spiritual well-being of their community regularly. Essentially, someone who is actively engaged in pastoral ministry. A practicing church leader could fulfill many different roles, such as elders, treasurers, secretaries, musicians, tent makers, heads of various ministries, trainers, bible study leaders, etc. It is important to note that not all children of pastors and church leaders stray from the right path, yet Satan's strategy would be to attack pastoral parents who faithfully serve God, where it hurts most, their children. At the same time, many congregations hold the belief that the children of pastors should embody perfection. This expectation can create immense pressure on these youngsters, as they often feel the weight of their parents' roles within the church. The community may set unrealistic standards for these children that can be difficult to meet. The term wayward in this course is used in the context that describes children who stray from the expected path, exhibiting a touch of mischief or being strong-willed, or have a rebellious spirit that diverges from your original expectations for them. We are mindful of how we use the term and request that you understand it with the same thought and sensitivity. Waywardness can range from slightly misguided to completely out of control. The course also aims to provide pastors and church leaders with the tools and support they need to navigate the complexities of raising wayward children while continuing to serve their congregations with integrity and compassion.
