Look down the last column. Not one of these names was revealed in a comfortable place. Every one was given at the point of need: a father about to lose his son, a people with nothing to drink, an ambush, a failure, a terror, a childless home, a dark valley, a ruined kingdom, a captivity. The need was the door. I have never forgotten that, and I ask you never to forget it either. The trouble you are in may be the very place where you learn the next name.
Why nine? I do not want to force the number, so I will only point out what the Bible itself shows. Nine is the count of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 and of the gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10. And nine times seventeen is one hundred and fifty-three, the number of great fishes in the unbroken net of John 21:11. In Chapter 14 we will fill that net: seventeen blessings from each of the nine names.
