The Plot To Kill Dickens
Overview
THE PLOT TO KILL DICKENS is the sequel to FAGIN THE NOVEL. It is December of 1841, and Charles Dickens, accompanied by his wife Catherine, is due to arrive on his first visit to the U.S.A. early in 1842. Jacob Hays, the High Constable of New York is a worried man. He has been informed by a number of his underworld contacts that there is a contract out to murder the young writer during his visit to the city. The High Constable has reached a dead end. Having no choice, he decides to gamble. If it takes a thief to catch a thief, then with a bit of luck, a killer should be able to stop a killer. Much against his better judgment, he hires Frank Fagin to help him, and to this day the world still has no idea how close it came to losing the genius of Charles Dickens at the Park Hotel, New York City, on the fourteenth of February 1842.
