Focusing on the lives of three high school buddies, this picturesque drama is a study of the American Dream gone wrong. Davey, Danny and Mary are friends from high school. There's real trouble, however, when outcast Danny returns to Utah with his new wife, a spit-fire whose presence leads to disaster.

Notes:
The film was shown in competition at the U.S. Film Festival (Currently known as the Sundance Film Festival) in Park City Utah, and developed at Robert Redford's Sundance Institute. Produced in association with Great American Films Ltd. Partnership.

"...[The] film is technically handsome..." - 01/27/1988 Variety

"...A psychological, poetic portrait of losers and winners in small-town America....The actors' performances and Hoffman's vision are what drive the film along..." - 01/22/1988 Los Angeles Times, p.C1
