Quick Math Exercises IV
Overview
Math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, are crucial abilities that everyone should acquire and possess. This is particularly important for multiplication and division skills, as they play a significant role in swiftly calculating large numbers. These proficiencies should be nurtured from a young age to ease daily life. Consequently, many children struggle to commit these numerical facts to memory, and repetitive drills often lead to a dislike of mathematics, especially in the case of multiplication and division.
Drawing from the author's experience in teaching mathematics to children, it is recommended that children memorize sets of three multiplication facts at a time, such as 2x2 = 4, 2x3 = 6, and 2x4 = 8. Once these are memorized, they can move on to the next set: 2x5 = 10, 2x6 = 12, 2x7 = 14, and continue with 2x8 = 16, 2x9 = 18, and 2x10 = 20. This process should occur gradually throughout the day, with only one multiplication fact to be memorized per day. This approach avoids overwhelming learners with a large number of multiplication facts.
