The Residents - Demons Dance Alone
Overview
Always at the vanguard of cutting-edge avant-garde rock, enigmatic underground legends The Residents once again prove their credentials with this intriguing live release. Mostly shot from the perspective of a shadowy cloaked figure who roamed the stage, this unique recording captures the band from their own perspective, rather than that of the audience. Wielding a bizarre looking rig (which, somewhat disappointingly, is actually there for practical purposes: to help stabilize the camera), the mysterious cameraman immortalizes the band on celluloid in what has to be one of the most unique concert recordings ever made. Just like all things Residential, this live DVD takes a much different perspective than most performance video. The footage was shot onstage during the U.S. tour by a black figure who roamed the stage wearing a mysterious contraption. This odd apparatus, a rig for camera stabilization, facilitated the lengthy shooting times needed to record each night's performance. As a result, the cameraman was able to interact with the performers in real time and, consequently, the footage is not restricted to an audience perspective but freely explores the stage
